The folks at Laptop Magazine grabbed a new Acer Aspire One D260 and took it for spin before giving it a thorough review here . There weren’t any huge surprises from this Acer netbook, and that’s because Acer is the Ford of netbooks. They’ve been making netbooks from the very beginning and consistently put out a good, but not groundbreaking product. Inside there’s one of Intel’s latest 1.83GHz Intel Atom N470 processors, 1GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, and 802.11b/g/n WiFi. Unfortunately, no Bluetooth, and the 6 cell battery’s performance could have been better than the 5 hours it in Laptop Mag’s test. Interestingly, we were told earlier that the D260 would be available with Google’s Android operating system running alongside Windows 7 Starter Edition but Acer hasn’t mentioned anything further so that’s not in the cards for now. The D260 is due to go on sale for $299 in the States, making it excellent value for money. We’d expect a similiar price here in the UK (but in pounds) – no firm launch date yet.
