I have the Acer Aspire 1 netbook. It goes a little hot under the case. I just purchased a notebook cooling fan with USB. Can it be used on the netbook? Is the power supply capable handling the extra wattage? Please let me know so I can make a decision whether to return the purchase of the fan or keep it. Thank you very much for your response.

I use a cooling fan on my laptop which even has lights on it. All it does is take a bit more from the battery. It will not hurt your cable.
The USB can only pull so much power. If it wont handle the energy it needs, it wont even turn on. Pretty obvious.
