can you connect a netbook to a pc to transfer software?

I want to buy a netbook not a laptop, I mainly need it to use microsoft office for documents and data management through access and excel. Would it be possible to transfer the office software from my pc to the netbook?

The easiest way is to do this over the network if you have one. In my case, I share the DVD drive on my desktop, put the install disk in the drive and then use the netbook to access it across the network to do the install. In the case of Office 2007, you may be able to download the trial from microsoft.com and enter your serial number.

almost certainly not you will need another copy of office to install on the netbook. If you don’t want to purchase another copy then the free open office might help you

Not a chance in Hades! You CANNOT copy a program to another PC. It MUST be properly installed.

As an alternative, you could use http://www.openoffice.org which is freely downloadable, and compatible with all versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.

Just use Open Office (it comes with Ubuntu, should you get a Linux netbook, but is free for Windows as well). It looks the same as 2003 almost and has more features. It will open all MS Word files, but if you want to open OO files in MS Word you have to save it as .doc (95/XP/2000), not too difficult.
