How do I get sound to come from my netbook through my pc speakers?

I have my netbook hooked up to my hdtv via a vga cable. i hooked up a rca to headphone jack cable to try and get audio but haven’t had any luck. i am running windows 7 if that helps. i tested both the tv speakers and the headphone jack on my netbook and both work fine. the cable is brand new so that shouldn’t be the problem

I don’t quite understand… are you trying to get sound through your PC speakers or TV speakers? (The title your questions says PC speakers but your description says TV).

If you are trying to listen with the TV speakers, switch the TV setting to mono. See if that works.
