How expensive would it be to post a netbook from the UK to Australia?

I want to buy a netbook and I’ve found the one I want is almost AU0 cheaper in the UK than in Australia. I have a friend who said they would post it down so I just want to know the price so that I can add that into the total cost and compare to Australia.

Depends on weight. Assuming it weighs 2Kg and you don’t want it to take 2 or 3 months by sea, the basic postage cost would be £23.26. However, if it gets lost or damaged you’d only get £39 compensation. If you want to cover it for up to £500 in case of loss or damage the postage would be £56.12 – more or less the difference in price.

If the package weighs more or less than 2Kg the postage cost would be correspondingly greater or less.

I don’t think this is a good idea. It would be very likely to get damaged or stolen in transit and there would be customs duty to pay on it in Australia
