Intel Atom Z520 Digitimes reports that Intel is going to suspend production of the Z series Atom processors by the end of 2009. Note, this does NOT affect production of the poplular Atom N270 and N280 netbook processors. It’s thought that Intel is looking to clearly differentiate the netbook, laptop, and MID segments and the Z series was too much of a gray area since it was often used in netbook-laptop transition models. Acer, Asus and MSI will still have their existing orders of the Z series chips delivered. Share and Enjoy:
