Is it possible to use the optical drive on my desktop for my netbook through an HDMI cable?

I know you can possibly use the desktops cd drive for a netbook over a network but I’m on a school campus and would rather not do too much sharing over networks here. Both my computers do have HDMI cable ports though. Would like to know if I used an HDMI cable, would I be able to use the cd drive for my netbook?

No.

a) HDMI is not designed for this purpose.
b) Even if it was, which it isn’t your netbook HDMI is out not in.

The easiest way is to purchase a USB external DVD/CD burner

No, the HDMI ports are OUTPUT only, not INPUT
