We just revied the brand new Acer Aspire One 521 and 721 a few days ago, and now for your viewing pleasure, an unboxing video of the 10″ Aspire 521 netbook. Both the 521 and 721 are nice looking devices, but you’l remember that it’s what’s under the hood that sets these machines from Acer apart. Under the plastic, each carries a 1.7ghz AMD Athlon II Neo K125 CPU rather than the ubiquitous Intel Atom. There’s also a more powerful than average ATI Radeon HD4225 graphics chipset. But it’s not the design that sets the Aspire One 521 apart. It actually looks a lot like several other 10 inch netbooks that Acer has released in recent months. What makes this little laptop different is the chipset: It’s powered by a 1.7GHz AMD Athlon II Neo K125 single core CPU and ATI Radeon HD4225 graphics. Brad, at Liliputing , seems quite impressed with the netbook on first impression. We’re looking forward to the full review.

Intel just announced their new dual core Atom processors yesterday and the processors will begin shipping next week already. Also, Acer has announced that they will be launching netbooks using these dual core processors (and tablets, too) and they will be preloaded with MeeGo. No more details yet, or pricing for that matter, but we expect to see the first Acer and Asus dual core netbooks by this fall. Source: Digitimes

I just got the Acer Aspire One windows 7 starter netbook and I need to transfer my iTunes library. I have an Acer AspireOne netbook. When my iPhone headphones’ jack insert bent, I had to twirl it and force it in order to hear non-matte sound. Now, it plays matte sound on the headphones if I do not push up or down on the jack. Is there a cheap and quick solution to this problem?

Macles has leaked out a new Acer Aspire model, the Acer Aspire One 533. This model is a 10.1” netbook and has a new design. The trackpad button and lid near the battery are chrome plated and has quite a slim look about it. The back shows an almost flush 6-cell battery and one huge lift off panel to access the insides. This model comes with DDR3 compatible Intel Atom N455 and N475 processors. Standard Intel GMA 3150 graphics, optional Bluetooth 3.0+HS. Battery life rated at 10 hours.
