Asus Eee PC 1005PE Brad, from Liliputing , has the new Eee PC 1005PE from Asus. It’s the first Asus netbook with the upcoming 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 Pine Trail processor and should be available for purchase sometime in January. As we found in the case of the Samsung N220 which is basically a Samsung N140 with Pinetrail specs, this Asus 1005PE is vary similar to the current bestselling Asus Eee PC 1005HA. There is, however, one cosmetic differences, which is the switch to a chiclet keyboard. Inside, this new netbook has Intel’s new N450 Pinetrail processor with integrated Intel GMA 3150 graphics. The combo promises to use less power than the outgoing N280 Atom chip, and we’ve seen reports that runtimes of 10 hours should be possible with a 6 cell 63 Whr battery. Check out the video after the break.

Netbooks aren’t really much older than 2007, and they really gained a foothold in 2008. Although some dismiss netbooks as just a fad, the least data from a company called DisplaySearch suggests otherwise. Netbook shipments are still growing, and according to their most recent report , netbook shipments are up 103% from last year. Whats more, the company projects that even more netbooks will be sold in 2010 than in 2009, but the year over year growth will slow down a bit. Translation – sales will grow, but not as quickly as they did from 2008-9. At the same time, DigiTimes reports that Samsung is poised to ship more units than the current leader Asus. We’re not suprised – Samsung has a killer line-up right now, with the budget N130 and N140netbooks up to the Ion-packing N510 .

A spare mini PCI-e slot has been removed, the solder points are still visible. Only one antenna is installed, not two Clock generator not listed in SetFSB so overclocking is a little tricky right now He notes that taking the T91MT was quite tricky, and he won’t be undertaking the task again! The multi-touch version of the T91 is not yet available in the UK, but the regular T91 is currently available at Amazon for £376.93 . Source: MyT91.info ( disassembly instructions )

We got our first glimpse at a computing future filled with low-cost, ARM-based ASUS smartbooks running Android on a 1GHz Snapdragon processor all the way back on June 1st. Since then, however, the pencil-spinning boys in Taiwan have been poo-pooing plans to launch such a device due to what ASUS called an uncertain market opportunity — or was it pressure from Wintel, we never can tell? Then yesterday, ASUS’ Jerry Shen pulled an about-face at an investor meeting in Taipei with talk of launching a $180 smartbook in Q1 of 2010. Bristling with confidence, Shen goes so far as to call it a “secret weapon” in a category offering potential for huge, Eee PC-like growth. Well, with the first big-name smartbooks just starting to ship, even a dozen or so sales could be considered statistically significant. Samsung N310, just £297 at Amazon UK According to DigiTimes , Samsung is soon to pass Asustek (a.k.a Asus) to become Europe’s second largest netbook seller. Have you guessed who’s in the number one spot yet? You got it, it’s Acer. Samsung, not known for its PC manufacturing prowess before it’s leap into the netbook market has shipped 2.15 million netbooks during the first half of 2009, of which a million of those went to Europe. DigiTimes’ sources predict that their current strong lineup could lead to strong third quarter of 2009, which means it would leap over HP and Asus, while trailing only Acer. The current Samsung lineup consists of a variety of 10 inch models including the NC10 , N120 , N140 , and N310 as well as the 11 inch Samsung NC20. Share and Enjoy:
