The folks at Netbook News.de got some hands on time with the Eee PC 1215N recently. The 1215N is a dual core netbook, however, it uses the Atom D510 processor which was originally meant for nettops. That means it isn’t great for power consumption, but it’s possible the final version could swap it for an Atom 550 chip once Intel officially launches that version . But really, anything’s possible at this point. The laptop has a 12.1 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel HD display, HDMI and VGA output, 3 USB 3.0 ports, and a flash card connection. It will also be one of the first laptops to feature NVIDIA’s Optimus technology, which will support automatic switching between the NVDIA ION graphics and the integrated Intel GMA 3150 graphics, depending on the task you’re performing. If you need higher performance graphics, it will kick in. If you don’t, the computer will use the lower power integrated graphics to help prolong battery life. We’re not sure when the 1215 is destined to hit retail and make the 1201PN obsolete, nor how much of a premium it will cost when it does, but you’ll find the latest news here when all is revealed.

I’m planning to buy an EEE PC netbook 1 GB ram. I’m wondering what kind of games can it handle? DOS and emulation games are possible I guess, but what else is out there?

Just a few weeks ago we wrote about an upcoming 9″ netbook from Asus called the Eee PC 900AX . If you had a hard time believing it, here’s the proof. Asus has now made it official and added a product page for the Eee PC 900AX . The specs on the 900AX are, well, retro. The notebook has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of RAM, an 8.9 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, 802.11b/g WiFi, 0.3MP webcam, a 4 cell battery, VGA output, mic, headphone, and Ethernet jacks, and 2 USB ports. It weighs about 2.5 pounds. Oh yeah, and it also runs Windows XP. The user manual is also available. In it, we learn that there are only 2 USB ports and that the mic and headphone capabilities instead of separate jacks for each. Some nice suprises though – the touchpad supports multitouch gestures. But overall, it confirms our suspicions that the Eee PC 900AX will be an ultra-budget entry into the Asus Eee PC lineup of netbooks. No word on pricing or UK release yet.

ASUS’ Eee PC 1015P made an appearance at CeBIT last month, and today the netbook showed up on the FCC. The netbook sports a 10.1” screen, an Intel Atom N450 processor, chiclet-style keyboard, and 802.11 b/g/n WiFi. The 1015P also has a very impressive 14 hour battery life, provided by a 6 cell battery. We don’t have any word on pricing or a release date for the 1015P, but the FCC filing means they’ll be in the US soon, which can only mean the UK will be soon to follow. Source: Wireless Goodness

It sports 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth, a 0.3MP webcam, and Windows 7 Starter Edition. Asus says the battery is good for up to 11 hours of run time, which in my experience means you’ll probably get about 8 hours of web surfing over WiFi. The E ee PC 1005PR is up for pre-order in the States @ $300 but isn’t available in the UK yet, nor do we know when it will be, but it is up for pre-order in the States so we can only guess that a UK launch is imminent. via Netbooked

Peter, at Nebooked , has the new Asus Eee PC 1201T and has posted his unboxing video ( after the break ). The model he tested has a 12.1” 1366 x 768 display coupled with ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics. The processor on this 1201t is an AMD Athlon Neo MV-40 (1.6GHz single-core) processor. He notes that the chassis is almost the same as teh Asus UL20A, but it does have minor tweaks such as the buttons on the inside being more rectangular and the battery area having a different shape. He also notes that it seems noisier than the UL20A and there’s now only an access panel for a single RAM slot unlike on the UL20A. Both models lack a HDMI port. You can check out the full unboxing video after the break.

I have an Eee PC by Acer and I use it just mainly for putting pictures of my son on Facebook so my family and friends can see him. I was wondering if there was a decent editing program that I could use that wouldn’t slow down the netbook too much. Also, I have no money to pay for this program so free trial or something would be nice.
