What is the difference btw a notebook and a netbook?

I just want the basic differences between a notebook and a netbook. Can netbooks download software? What are the limitations? How about word processing?

Netbooks are smaller and less powerful than laptops.
It is ok for internet, office app including word documents, simple games, youtube, video playback(not HD video), etc.
Laptops are heavier, easier to work with(bigger screen, bigger keyboard), heavy games, compiling programs, has CD/DVD drive, etc.
You can download software with either one.
If you get dual-core laptop, it is about 10 times faster than netbooks in some benchmarks, so laptop is proper for heavy applications.
Try to get Windows version of Laptops or Netbooks because many people find it easier to use. Many people also install OpenOffice on their laptops or netbooks for word documents.

I imagine you already know what a notebook is. Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NetBook

It runs the same as a normal notebook, the only difference is the screen size, which is smaller

Netbooks are just smaller. That means slower processors and less storage and RAM. Yes, they can download software and word process, if you don’t mind working on a document on a 6 inch screen. Netbooks are very portable, but won’t be able to play games or any other intense applications.

notebook:
you basically have the same capability as a desktop. use of programs and downloads. it even has a dvd drive.

netbooks:
works the same except that you don’t have a dvd drive and if you need to install anything, you will need to do it via a flash drive.

plus they are way smaller than a notebook pc

Netbooks are usually smaller, and don’t have things like CD or DVD drives, nor tons of storage, nor lots of extra USB ports. They are really limited versions of laptops, but if using the internet, watching videos online, using email, and other simple stuff is all you need, a netbook pc is what you want.

They usually run standard operating systems like Microsoft Windows so you’ll have no problem running Microsoft Word and most other software. You won’t be able to play intense 3d games, but chances are if you are a 3d gamer you know what kind of powerful system you want anyways.
