What’s a good sturdy Netbook for travelling?

I’m going travelling and I’d like to buy a Netbook for my travels. There are plenty of different makes but which is the most sturdy?
I’m talking specifically Netbooks here – if Apple had brought out an 11" Macbook this summer I would have bought that. The things I’m talking about are Dell Mini 10, Asus EEEPC, Acer Aspire etc. They seem to vary in quality, so I’d like to know if anyone has had real world experience of any.

Your best best if going with an HP MINI or the DELL MINI, because those models are a little bit better designed for traveling, and they have damage protection options which I ALWAYS recommend to anybody buying a laptop OR a netbook that is going to be traveling.

It also depends on what your going to be DOING while traveling. are you going to be mostly blogging or word processing? Are you going to edit photos or maybe do a little photo shop? Downloading music? What your going to be using it for has a lot to do with which one to get.

As far as sturdiness, The HP mini has a scratch-proof screen and the Samsung mini has a rubber shell to better prevent breaking/scratching if you were to drop it

http://cheapportablelaptops.blogspot.com has a pretty thorough review of a Dell, HP, Asus and Samsung and goes pretty in-depth the features of each model.

Also, if you are going to be traveling, I see alot of people putting their netbook into a thin sleeve for protection which I would NOT recommend. Their are PROTECTIVE sleeves for netbooks that are thicker and they work a lot better in keeping the unit in good shape while your on the road. hope that helps!

Macbook for sure. they don’t weigh alot and work fast and great. it’s totally worth the $1200 because they don’t catch virus’ and don’t slow down!

Basically if you take care of your computer and have a good case any notebook should survive normal travel. You can get a hard case if your worried about rough handling, but one with good padding should be OK. If your going to check it in I would go with the hard case for sure.

Toughbook is a good unit but unless your bouncing around a lot like on a boat or something like that I would not spend the extra money.
