My boyfriend tried to explain it, but I still don’t get it. My computer is an HP G60, 16", and it says it’s a notebook. Is an average laptop even bigger than that? What about a Netbook? Those look pretty small, but other than size, is there a difference?

Actually, ‘laptop’ refers to portable computers from approx 10-12 years ago. They were much larger than current portable computers and, when placed on your lap, they overhung on both sides. It was a marketing pitch because they were genuinely portable and didn’t need to set on a desk or table. When what we call ‘notebooks’ came out they were much more comfortable in size and they are the popular size today and many people refer to them as ‘laptops’ because the true notebook fits comfortably on a lap. Netbooks are fully functional computers but much smaller. Current ones are not as powerful as notebooks, but that will change over time. I know people who take netbooks to college because they’re small, yet can run all Windows software.
Netbooks are only good for browsing the web, hence the name "Net" book. They aren’t good for games, schoolwork, or media. Notebooks are regular laptops. They have all the functions of a regular computer, but some may be slower than others due to the size of the memory and hard drive.
netbook=shit
notebooks and laptops are basically the same
The only reason for a laptop is you need a portable computer. If you do not need portability, a laptop is a bad decision, notebook is even a worse decision and netbook is the worst decision. The keyboards get smaller and smaller.
notebooks are basically the normal laptops. they are good for all around general use like a desktop, but helpful with their portability.
netbooks are just mini laptops. They are designed esentially for web browsing. You can do other things with them (word files, games, etc) but they will not function as well. netbooks have become popular amongst college crowds though for their size, enabling students to use them for note taking during class without taking up too much space.
