Yes there are differences between Netbook and a Notebook, no Netbooks are NOT prone to more viruses.

Many people purchase netbooks simply for the easy portability, small size, and for basic use, they are not intended to be very powerful or used for intensive gaming/video editing/hd movies etc.

Notebooks however are a step above netbooks, they vary from 13" to 18" or even 20" screens, they are not as lightweight as netbooks, but they are more powerful, they can even have a similar/better performance than some desktops.

A notebook is for you if you like portability but you also want some muscle: you do more intensive web browsing, video editing, programming, hd movies, multitasking (such as listening to music, while doing some photo editing in photoshop, and talking on msn all at once), occasional gaming

A netbook is for you if you like ultraportability, very lightweight device, you do basic web browsing, e-mail, msn and you’re on a budget.

In a nutshell, Netbook vs. Notebook:
A Netbook…
…is cheaper
…has basic functions only (Internet, email…)
…is more prone to viruses & worms due to the above reason
…is smaller than the average Notebook
…(to date) has a much smaller screen

A Notebook has almost all the functions that a desktop has

Netbooks…
- Smaller
- Lower price
- Mainly for surfing the Internet
- Definitely not a gaming computer
- Very portable

Notebooks…
- Bigger
- More pricey
- Good for games and Internet
- Bigger screen
- Not as portable as netbooks
- Pretty much a portable desktop
